The New testament saga
The New Testament
The story unfolds
There will be much said on this page. The history of the New Testament
is extensive. It covers from the oral tradition to the written word and
covers over 1800 years of change. As the political climate of the Church
changed so did the interpretation of scripture.
Words and their meanings changed as the scriptures were translated
into one language, then another. The various translators were many
times confounded by their inability to translate directly from the Greek
and keep the integrity of some word meanings. Even in a singular
language such as English, word meanings have changed dramatically
over the centuries. Word meanings in the same language tend to
change from country to country where that language is primary. Culture,
time and distance impact word meanings in a big way. Even in biblical
times they used word and phrases, given that language at that time.
We now have clearer insight as to what those words and phrases might
mean in today's English.
I have no compunction about telling the archeological facts as well as
showing that the various translations of the New Testament have been
altered either due to oversight or perhaps by design.
It is important to know what actually transpired during Christ's ministry.
New archeological findings are bringing us closer to the truth.
We now have a much better understanding of the language of the day
hence giving us a clearer word definition of what was actually written,
we can now translate with more accuracy from the Greek into English.
To further aid us in this effort we now have access to copies of scripture
that are only one or two removed from the originals that date back to
100 AD and before.
This is an interesting study, so you will want to keep checking
back to see it unfold.
Still much more to come
